About Joli
Joli Greene is the founder and owner of Greeneleaf. An herbalist, and Maine artist who has shown her work internationally since 1972, she is a published illustrator of botanical, zoological and medical drawings.
Since the early 1970's, Joli studied fiber arts, and kept extensive records of plant dyes. For many years she taught and worked as a
weaver, spinner and dyer. Her love of plants and weaving turned her toward basketry.
Working and studying with traditional and contemporary basketry teachers from many cultures, including Native American and Japanese, she continues to pass on what she has learned.
She was a Maine Touring Artist for 10 years, before being invited to travel to Russia as the first Artist-in-Residence sponsored by the Soviet Peace Committee. She lived and worked in Russia for a year doing theatre, music and art with teenagers, before returning home to Maine where she continues to teach, show and sell her work.
